The ongoing commitment of OPCEA to protect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information is addressed in this Privacy Policy. Our policy complies with the requirements of The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) enacted in April 2000.

OPCEA will provide specific notice before collecting any of your personal information (details that can identify you as an individual such as your name or address). We will explain what information is being collected and how it will be used. You have the right to decline to have this information collected or transferred for marketing purposes. We collect no personal information about you unless you choose to provide that information to us. We do not use techniques that collect personal information about you without your knowledge. Any personally identifiable data about our members or web site visitors is stored securely. You can withdraw consent at any time. If we wish to use the information for some other purpose other than the original consent, we would seek consent for the new purpose.

OPCEA is committed to respecting the personal data you supply to us. The information we collect will be relevant to the purposes for which they are to be used, and we do our utmost to ensure that such data will be accurate, complete and kept up to date. Whenever personal data is obtained from you, you will have access to information as to how that data will be used. Data is collected to provide services to members and to communicate industry information.

You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that credibly shows error. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.

Opcea.com’s operating system may automatically record some general information about your visit such as:

• The Internet domain for your Internet service provider, such as “company.com” or “service.ca” and the IP address of the computer accessing the Web site.
• The type of browser (such as “Netscape version x or Internet Explorer version x”) you are using.
• The type of operating system you are using, such as Macintosh, Unix, or Windows.
• The date and time you visit our site and the web pages that you visit on our site, along with the address of the previous Web site you were visiting, if you linked to us from another Web site.

We use this information for statistical analysis, to help us make our site more useful to visitors. We may disclose this non-personalized information to third parties such as sponsors and/or use it for auditing purposes. This tracking system does not record personal information about individuals or link this information to any personal data collected.

We may use “cookies” that identify you as a return visitor. A cookie is a piece of data that a Web site can send to your browser, which may then store the cookie on your hard drive. So, when you come back to visit us again, we can tailor information to suit your individual preferences. The goal is to save you time and provide you with a more meaningful visit and to measure Web site activity. Cookies do not contain any personally identifying information. Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, OPCEA never collects or maintains information on our Web site from those we know are under 13, and no part of our Web site is structured to attract anyone under 13.

We do not send unsolicited email. If you add your name to an email subscriber’s list on our Web site, you authorize OPCEA to send you personalized messages from time to time. At no time do OPCEA’s advertisers or third parties have access to your confidential information. You may cancel your subscription to these email messages at any time.

This policy discloses the privacy practices for our Web site. However, our Web site contains links to other sites. Once you link to another site, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of the new site. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of all Web sites you visit, especially if you share any personal information.

Membership fees cover the firm’s listing, both alphabetically and by product in the annual directory, all newsletters, and a provision for two representatives to attend the annual meeting and dinner. Fees for advertising in the directory and for attendance at the trade exhibits are extra.

If your firm is engaged in the supply of equipment or services to the air or water pollution control market in Ontario, we urge you to give serious consideration to joining our association. Members

Your personal data will enable OPCEA to keep you updated with relevant information, which forms part of your package of membership benefits. Our communications with you may be via post, telephone or email, and may originate from OPCEA officers or staff. Visitors to the OPCEA Web site may receive communications via pages on the site.

We may disclose your details to carefully selected and strictly controlled partners enabling them to provide you with products or services we feel will support your business activities, your career and personal development.

OPCEA communications are an integral part of keeping you informed, and may include interesting and relevant business information from third parties that we think might be relevant and interesting.

Your personal information is retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes required by the OPCEA. We do not keep your personal information if it is no longer needed for the purposes required.

As an industry organization, we may use the information you provide to assist us with database profiling, aimed at improving the quality of products and services offered to you.

OPCEA uses data for testing purposes to ensure that its IT system for processing that data is working properly.

OPCEA respects your data and has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure we have mitigated against such risks as loss of authorized access, destruction, use, modification or disclosure of data. Membership files that have remained inactive or lapsed for 10 years shall be destroyed.

OPCEA has instigated a formal process to manage requests for access to the data we hold about you. However, in the first instance we encourage you to contact our Executive Administrator to discuss and resolve any concerns you may have relating to the use/acquisition of your data. You may wish to continue the process and contact the federal “Policy Commissioner” at info@privcom.gc.ca or contact its toll-free inquiries line, 1-800-282-1376, available during regular business hours across Canada.

As part of your relationship with OPCEA, we have a policy of transparency with regard to your membership status. This will include the publication of the names of OPCEA members both in print and on the OPCEA Web site.

In its endeavour to promote member companies and their products, OPCEA directly participates in and provides the following services:

• OPCEA Exhibition – OPCEA membership prioritizes all suppliers who wish to participate in the annual exhibition. The 2024 conference will take place in Niagara Falls in May 2024.
• Annual OPCEA Golf Tournament – OPCEA holds a highly regarded industry golf tournament for members and their clients. The 2024 tournament will be in June and details will be announced on our website.
• OPCEA Membership Guide & Website – 5,500 directories highlighting products and services of member companies are published annually and distributed in the Ontario marketplace. Furthermore, member companies will also have their company listed on the online directory that will be available at http://www.opcea.com.
• Influents Magazine – Combined WEAO/OPCEA magazine, which keeps member companies notified of upcoming events and opportunities. Spotlights done on personnel in the industry.
• OPCEA AGM – An annual general meeting sponsored by the association for member companies provides members an insight into the operations of OPCEA and provides a great networking opportunity.
• OPCEA Online Database – Launched in June 2020, the member database will allow OPCEA members to manage their business profile including contacts and products and services offered. We encourage you to review your firm’s online listing to make sure it is up to date.
• Preferential pricing for new memberships with ConstructConnect – ConstructConnect allows its customers to search for targeted and relevant project leads in an effort to secure new customers and increase revenue.
• Advocate for Members – OPCEA keeps up to date with what is happening within our Industry and makes sure that our members voices and interests are heard loud and clear. Our OPCEA members are updated on what is happening within our industry through our website and direct communications. It is with our members participation and voices that we are making a difference with WEAO and the Ontario and Canadian governments. OPCEA is present at WEAO Board and Committee meetings as well as contributing towards the publication contents of the Influents magazine, the annual exposition, our Young Professionals, and working collaboratively with WEAO for future events.
• OPCEA Association Health & Dental Plan – A plan offered to all OPCEA members regardless of size and underwritten by Manulife Financial.

Criteria for OPCEA Membership:

Must be an Ontario firm involved in the supply of equipment or services to the water and wastewater industries.
OR
Must have representation in Ontario with the representative company registered as an OPCEA member.

Upon approval of your membership application by the OPCEA Board, you will be sent an email confirmation and a link to take you to the location where you can pay by credit card and populate your company information to be displayed on the OPCEA website. Your membership will be active upon receipt of payment.

Initiation Fee:            $350

Membership Dues:   $400

Total:                          $750 + $97.50 HST = $847.50

OPCEA publishes an annual print Directory of member companies and the services and products they provide. The listings of suppliers, products, services, and advertising, make this Directory an important reference source for specifiers. As an OPCEA member, your listing is free.

The OPCEA Directory will be distributed to key environmental professionals across Ontario, including those serving industries and municipalities. Readers include government officials, water and wastewater treatment plant operators, contractors, municipal engineers, technical support staff, industrial plant managers and engineers, and consulting engineers.

Good directories have a long shelf-life as a reference source, so advertising in them is an excellent marketing opportunity. The OPCEA Directory will be distributed to key environmental professionals across Ontario, including those serving industries and municipalities. Reserve an ad in this directory and your company logo will run with your free listing, at no extra charge. Members will be sent an information package with details at the appropriate time.

First published for distribution at the 1988 WEAO/OPCEA conference and tradeshow, OPCEA’s Membership Guide was the idea of Larry Madden of C&M Environmental. The first edition profiled OPCEA’s 60+ members and was a mere 24 largely black and white pages.

Since that time, the association has grown and the directory has followed suit.  The 2021 edition is colour and is “book bound” for added prestige and durability.

2018 marked the 30^th edition of the OPCEA Membership Guide.

Thank you to our members for attending the 51th WEAO Technical Symposium and OPCEA Exhibition at the Sheraton Centre Toronto.  It was wonderful seeing everyone in person and reconnecting over the meals and cocktails.

The 2024 conference and exhibition will take place at the Niagara Falls Convention Centre from May 5 – 7, 2024.  Event information will be provided once available.

Note that the 2024 conference and exhibition will be a joint event with OWWA.
